A Stunning Wartime Jigsaw Puzzle by Dame Laura Knight, titled 'Ruby Loftus Screwing a Breech Ring' in celebration of International Women's Day.
During World War 2, women were called up to aid the war effort while the men were fighting on the front lines, contributing as mechanics, engineers and munitions workers. This jigsaw puzzle features a group of skilled women machining parts in a wartime factory.
This beautiful piece of art, titled 'Ruby Loftus Screwing a Breech Ring' was painted in 1943 by Dame Laura Knight, an English artist who was one of the most successful painters in Britain. During her successful career, she paved the way for female artists in what was a male-dominated industry.
Imagery from the war, led by “Rosie The Riveter” on J Howard Miller’s iconic “We Can Do It!” Poster, was pivotal to the Feminist movement, as such we have released this jigsaw in celebration of International Women’s Day on 8th March.
